Phishing Scams

Mid-Rivers customers may occasionally see emails that start with a subject line similar to: DEAR MID-RIVERS WEBMAIL ACCOUNT OWNER, stating that username and password information is needed to keep an email account active. This is a phishing attempt to gain personal information. Please just delete the email immediately and do not respond to it. At no time will Mid-Rivers ever ask you for your username or password via email.

Mid-Rivers customers please ignore ANY email that starts out with the greeting: "Dear user of the midrivers.com mailing service"!

Mid-Rivers has seen a few instances lately where our customers are receiving emails that are created to look like they are from Mid-Rivers. There is nothing new about this, as it has been discovered these scam emails have been in circulation for quite some time. However, the latest batch of scam emails are a bit different. Instead of asking for the customer to reply to the email, the email contains a link that customers are encouraged to click on. This link then takes customers to a website where they can try to install spyware on their computer.

Please understand that this is a scam email, and it is best to delete these emails without clicking on the link. However, if you have already clicked on the link make sure to check your computer for viruses or spyware.
